A former collegiate basketball player in the Philippines (Colegio de San Juan de Letran ’92-’95), Coach “Nap” is now well known throughout the Vancouver community as the energetic head coach of the St Patrick’s Secondary Varsity basketball team. Noted for his exceptional coaching acumen, Nap was named coach of the 2010 Best of the West BC All-stars and the 2012 Basketball BC U14 Vancouver East Regional Team. Coach Nap was also awarded the Mike Potkonjak Coaching Excellence (Coach of the Year) for 2015-2016 in the Lower Mainland. With two HS provincial championships under his belt for the St. Patrick’s Celtics, Nap brings a wealth of professional playing experience, positive energy, and fifteen years of coaching experience to Dream Hoops Academy.
Born and raised in Trail, BC, John’s playing achievements include a HS provincial championship and careers at both the NCAA Division 1 and CIS level. While playing at Simon Fraser University, John was awarded the Rick Jones Memorial Award as the Most Inspirational Athlete. Using his talents and ability to inspire, John has been involved in youth outreach programs and coaching basketball at various levels in the Vancouver and Lower Mainland communities. However, he’s now probably best known as the guy who broke the backboard while showing off to his players. John brings his passion for the game and 9 years of HS coaching experience at St. Patrick’s Secondary School to Dream Hoops Academy.
