ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND
The Girls Division turned out to be very competitive and the improvement for the girls have been tremendous. We have seen amazing growth from all the girls and we are so proud to see the girls work hard to get better. #1 seed Sky advanced to the finals as they beat a never say die team in #4 Fever. In the other game, the lower seed #3 Stars defeated #2 seed Mystics in a hard fought game. Good luck Sky and Stars.
Our High School Girls Division top teams played to their seeds as #1 UCLA beat #4 UCONN and #2 North Carolina defeated a gritty #3 seed Mississippi St. Good luck to both team in the finals.
Our Freshman division top two teams did not disappoint as the Nets and The Town advanced to the Finals. Hickory gave the Nets a bit of a scare as they stayed close until running out of steam at the end. Team Phila also gave The Town a scare as they battled hard and had a never give up attitude but also ran out of steam towards the end of the game. This final should be a good one.
In the Sophomore division, the upset of the weekend was the Bobcats who were seeded #6 upset the #2 seeded team Buzz City. The Bobcats advance to the finals next Sunday. This shows all of our players that whatever happens in the regular season is all for development and improvement. When the playoffs starts, if you have put in work with training that anything can happen in the playoffs. In the other semi final game, the #1 seed Clippers were given some push back from the #4 seed Bucks. It was an exciting game and it came down to the last few possessions. The Clippers hit some timely shots to take the lead and the win. The finals should be very exciting.
In the Juniors Division, #1 seed MPLS advanced as they beat the #4 Heat in a tightly matched contest. In the other semi final game, #2 Boston squeaked out a two point victory over #3 The Bay in a very tough defensive game. Good luck to MPLS and Boston who play in the finals.
The Seniors Quarter finals will be on Friday, June 8, the semifinals will be Sunday Morning starting at 9:00am and the Finals for the Seniors will be at 5:15pm the same day.
Good Luck to all teams that advanced to the next round of the playoffs and the finals.
The DHDL Finals Championship Weekend will be this Sunday, June 10. So please mark that on your calendar. We will also have the Awards Ceremonies immediately after the last finals game on June 10. We would like to invite everyone to come watch the finals and support your favourite teams.
